I was a Year 6 student at Hay Park School in Auckland, NZ. I was in McCahon Class and my teacher was Mrs Kingston. This was where I shared my learning.

Explanation on How to be a Self-Directed Learner.
To be a positive learner you have to be positive not passive so you would have a good attitude. Always have cheery attitude and a great smile walking into school. Take every opportunity and give it a try. Also be a good sportsperson, cheer and encourage people when they have their turn. Be organised and focused in the morning. Be open minded and have a growth mindset. And finally have eye contact with the speaker at all times
( Don’t stare because it kind of looks weird staring).
Another way of being a positive learner is having a growth mindset. In McCahon class we have been learning how to use growth mindset. What growth mindset is by using your brain and thinking the right way e.g I will never be good as they are, I will figure out what strategy they use to make them smarter. You have to think right and make the right choices in what words you use.
In McCahon class we have also been using the learner profile. There are many ideas of the learner profile. For an example like Caring, Inquirer, Open-Minded and Risk-Takers. Caring is taking care of the environment and people; instead of being a bystander and stand up for yourself and help them. Being a risk-taker is by taking every opportunity and giving it your best.
I hope you enjoyed my explanation of how to be a self-directed learner. Remember to use a growth mindset and the learner profile. Also do the things of the learner profile.

LAST YEAR OF PRIMARY
We are into the second week of Term 1 in school.
I am really excited being in McCahon class with my friends and my Chromebook.
McCahon class and I are setting goals for the next few weeks, I will be sharing my goals later on.
The best thing I really liked on getting back to school was that our fabulous teacher Mrs Kingston made a idea of doing a science experiment. We were all excited to watch the Alka Seltzers rockets pop in the air. It was AWESOME!!
The thing I'm looking forward to is the Kawa of Care meeting. I can't wait to take my Chromebook home.
Make sure you check back to see all the posts I've done on 2015
